"Research by photographer Stéphen Joly reveals a clear relationship between mental and physical frames"
Annette Beguin-Verbrugge - Professeure émérite en sciences de l’information et de la communication

I come from a world where you don’t say, an emotionally silent film.
As a single child, I learn not to disturb, to silence my emotions, my illusions, my loneliness.
The image comes to me from my paternal aunts who entrust me with a camera, take me elsewhere during the holidays.

Photography becomes my breath and my breathing.
Autonomous, I develop a language centered on presence and absence, the search for the right distance between the void and matter, transparency in opacity. The resonance of light, the sound of shadows, the delicacy of vertigo, the trace of the unspeakable.

I use photography as an echo, a blind stick that allows me to perceive the right distance between the void and the matter.
